Mac OS X 10.4

The DeckLink Macintosh v5.7 drivers are fully compatible with both Mac OS X 10.4.7 and Final Cut Pro v5.1.1. The DeckLink Macintosh v5.7 drivers are available from the Software Downloads page of our web site.

We officially recommend the use of Final Cut Pro HD v5.1.1 with Tiger along with the new DeckLink Macintosh v5.7 drivers. The DeckLink Macintosh v5.7 drivers are a free update for all DeckLink users. The latest drivers are always available from the Software Downloads page of our web site.

The previous DeckLink Macintosh v4.8.1 drivers have been tested and verified for use with Final Cut Pro HD v4.5 and Mac OS X 10.3.8. Use of the DeckLink 4.8.1 drivers with Tiger is discouraged as this is an unsupported configuration and minimal testing has been conducted. Furthermore we are unaware of any official Apple support for Final Cut Pro HD v4.5 with Tiger.

As with any major software upgrade, we would recommend that anyone in the middle of a big project, or with time-critical deadlines, continue to use their existing, working configuration to finish the job before adopting the new software updates.

Recommended configurations:
DeckLink 4.8.1 drivers with Mac OS X 10.3.8, QuickTime 6.5.2 and Final Cut Pro HD v4.5
• See DeckLink Minimum System Requirements for Mac OS X for the latest recommended Mac OS X 10.4 and Final Cut Pro HD v5.1 configuration.

Mac OS X 10.3.9 is not officially supported with the DeckLink 5.0 drivers and we advise using one of the two recommended configurations in this technical note. Unofficially, DeckLink 5.7 drivers may work with Mac OS X 10.3.9 but we discourage the use of this operating system. Some of the new DeckLink features, including Blackmagic FrameLink, are exclusively available to Tiger and this is another good reason to upgrade to Tiger.
