Audio missing in exported DV movie
Problem: Material rendered in Premiere Pro 1.5.1 or 2.0, from a Blackmagic timeline to the Blackmagic DV Codec, will not include audio channels even though audio channels have been selected for export.
Solution: It is necessary to export with the Microsoft DV AVI codec for audio to be included.
Background: Premiere Pro 1.5.1 includes the following editing modes: DV Playback, HDV Playback and Video for Windows. DeckLink Playback is added when the DeckLink drivers are installed. Each of these editing modes has its own file format.
Premiere Pro 1.5.1 does not allow the mixing of file formats between editing modes. Therefore you cannot use a Microsoft DV file along with a Blackmagic timeline and it is necessary to use the Blackmagic DV codec if you wish to monitor and output to tape with a DeckLink card.
Premiere Pro 2.0 now allows the mixing of file formats between editing modes. This means you can use Microsoft DV codec along with a Blackmagic timeline. In fact the latest Blackmagic drivers adopt the Microsoft DV codec so that it is no longer necessary to use the legacy Blackmagic DV codec.
The only DeckLink or Multibridge users who might still need to use the legacy Blackmagic DV codec with Premiere Pro 2.0 are those who use Premiere Pro 2.0 to open Premiere Pro 1.5.1 projects previously created using a Blackmagic timeline. As mentioned above, exporting to the Microsoft DV AVI codec will ensure that audio channels are included.
